Jeff Witter

Dr. Jeff Witter is Principal Geoscientist at Innovate Geothermal Ltd., a Vancouver-based geothermal consulting firm with expertise in: early stage geothermal exploration, geoscience data analysis and interpretation, 3D geological and geophysical modelling, resource evaluation, well targeting, and long-term resource management. Dr. Witter has over 20 years experience in geoscience and has focused on the geothermal energy sector since 2008. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Hawaii and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, both in volcanic geology. Jeff has provided expert geoscience advice to U.S. and Canadian geothermal developers, served as a geothermal advisor to government, and provided geothermal due diligence services to investor groups.

Dr. Witter has diverse experience in the earth sciences, in both academia and industry. He is an adjunct professor at Simon Fraser University (Department of Earth Sciences) and a board member of Geothermal Canada and the Geothermal Resources Council (USA).  He is a professional geoscientist (PGeo) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC and is a recognized industry expert in the areas of: geothermal exploration, volcanology, applied geophysics, and volcanic hazards.  

With respect to the Garibaldi volcanic belt, Dr. Witter recently published a brief on the South Meager geothermal area (New Perspectives from Recently Unearthed Data Report, Geoscience BC 2019-07) and also worked as an exploration geologist for Sierra Geothermal Power Corp, who previously conducted reconnaissance geothermal exploration at Mount Cayley in 2008. jwitter@contegeo.com

Moira Chicilo

Moira Chicilo has held senior positions in public and private sectors, and has worked regionally and internationally in resources, petrochemical, transportation, and retail sectors. Ms. Chicilo has over 25 years’ experience in public policy, strategy, regulation, marketing, communications, and business transformation.

Prior to Tremolo, Moira led global government relations and public affairs for Methanex Corporation. In this position, she was responsible for leading Methanex’s global stakeholder relations program. Moira led an international function, with offices in New Zealand, Chile, Belgium, China, Egypt, US and Canada. Working with the global methanol industry association (Methanol Institute), Moira was instrumental in the creation of a global campaign promoting the use of methanol as a low emissions fuel choice in the marine sector.

Prior to joining Methanex, Ms. Chicilo spent 10 years with BC Hydro and its subsidiary, BC Transmission Corporation. Leading the strategy and policy functions, Moira played a significant role in helping shape the strategic agenda for the Crown agencies, and worked directly with federal, regional, provincial and local governments – both at the political and bureaucratic levels – as critical new energy policy was emerging. In her role, Moira oversaw the First Nations, government and community relations as the utility advanced a significant infrastructure expansion program. Moira is an advocate for building effective stakeholder partnerships and, in particular, finding opportunities for greater participation by First Nations in the energy sector. mchicilo@contegeo.com

Cameron Lusztig

Cameron Lusztig is President of Keppel Gate Consulting. Mr. Lusztig is an economist specialising in energy markets, project development, and public policy. During his more than 30 years focussed on British Columbia economics and public policy, Mr. Lusztig has worked with energy project developers, First Nations, utilities, and regulatory agencies, and has provided advice to the Province of British Columbia on matters related to electricity market pricing, operations, structuring, and development. 

Mr. Lusztig has worked on teams developing a number of independent power projects, LNG projects, and transmission facilities, including projects led by First Nations.  Mr. Lusztig has also advised First Nations in their negotiations of both Impact Benefit Agreements and joint ventures, including with respect to major LNG facilities and pipelines, land acquisition, real estate development, and shipping. Mr. Lusztig has considerable experience negotiating power purchase agreements, including with BC Hydro, and securing project finance.

Mr. Lusztig has provided numerous regulatory filings, testified before regulatory tribunals and in litigation, and is a regular speaker and industry conferences and events.  He currently sits on the board of the partnership that owns and operates the Harrison Hydro group of independent power projects, on behalf of Innergex Renewable Energy, Inc. clusztig@contegeo.com
